Ireland vs Oman prediction

Defeat for Ireland here would all but sink their already slim hopes of advancing from Group B, having already lost to Sri Lanka and Australia respectively. Oman have also lost two from two, but their defeats have been even more emphatic. After going down by eight wickets to Zimbabwe, Oman were thrashed by 105 runs at the hands of Sri Lanka. Their batting has put up just 223 runs for the loss of 19 wickets across their two games played so far, whilst the bowlers have given up 331 runs in 33.3 overs, taking just seven wickets in the process.

Ireland may have struggled themselves from a batting perspective, bowled out on two occasions already, but Oman are a far inferior opponent compared to their prior challenges and the Irish should be afforded more joy on this occasion. Whilst there are pitfalls such as a potentially challenging weather forecast and a pitch that could offer assistance to bowlers, particularly spinners, it’s still worthwhile to back Ireland picking up a much-needed two points.
