Coming to the crease with the defending champions 45/2, batters fell all around the Indian skipper, leaving them 77/6 after 12.4 overs. Suryakumar then proceeded to tee off, smashing an incredible 84 not out from 49 balls to help his side reach 161/9. It was an utterly critical knock and gave India’s bowlers enough runs to defend as they held USA to 132/8 in reply.

The likelihood is that such a result will have shocked India and they’ll come into this one with a lot of added focus and determination to avoid making things hard for themselves through poor batting. A more clinical performance should be on the cards for them against vastly weaker opponents in Namibia and backing them to register a high margin of victory warrants consideration.
