Perth Scorchers are back on the road in the second of this Big Bash double header on New Year’s Day, a couple of days after Ashton Turner’s captains knock of 99 not out helped lead them to a comprehensive but vital 71-run thrashing of Sydney Thunder. The Scorchers bowlers all did their jobs with four of the six players utilised with the ball picking up at least two wickets. But they are running into an ominous looking Hobart Hurricanes, who are unbeaten at home and have already beat Perth once this season.

Hobart’s bowling is more than a match for the visitors, but the depth within their batting order gives them a big advantage heading into the business end of an innings, especially when chasing. To have a player like Tim David coming in down the order is a massive boost for the Hurricanes and in what is likely to be a close game, that depth and home advantage may well wind up being critical.
