THE LOWDOWN

CRYSTAL PALACE

In mid-to-late-February, Crystal Palace took the decision to replace then manager Roy Hodgson with former Eintracht Frankfurt boss and 2022 UEFA Europa League winning coach Oliver Glasner. Palace won his opening game against Burnley at Selhurst Park but the Austrian has not won a game since then.

The home team come into this one on the back of a slender 1-0 defeat to AFC Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium in their most recent outing in midweek with a 79th minute winning goal from second-half substitute Justin Kluivert. Crystal Palace have now collected just two points from their last four Premier League matches.

MAN CITY

Defending champions Manchester City come into this one on the back of a 4-1 hammering of Aston Villa in their most recent outing at the Etihad Stadium in midweek with a sensational hat-trick from England international Phil Foden. City were pegged back to 1-1 mid-way through that first-half but eventually ran out comfortable winners.

That means that Pep Guardiola’s Cityzens, who are attempting to pull of a historic ‘double treble’, are now unbeaten in their last 24 matches across all competitions since early December. That incredibly impressive run of form has been a little undermined by the performances perhaps not quite being at their fluent best.

THE TEAM NEWS

CRYSTAL PALACE

In his pre-match press conference ahead of the visit of Manchester City, Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner did not reveal any new injury issues.

The Eagles will be able to welcome Michael Olise into the squad but the French U21 international is expected to only be available for ’15 to 20 minutes’.

PREDICTED XI (3-4-3): Henderson; Ward, Andersen, Lerma; Munoz, Wharton, Hughes, Mitchell; Eze, Mateta, Ayew

UNAVAILABLE: Johnstone (Injured), Holding (Injured), Guehi (Injured), Richards (Injured), Doucoure (Injured), Franca (Injured), Rak-Sakyi (Injured), Edouard (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE:

MAN CITY

Pep Guardiola has been without Ederson for about a month now but he has been described as ‘much better’ and he could return to the side this weekend.

They will, though, remain without a couple of key defensive injuries as Nathan Ake is suffering from a calf issue, whilst Kyle Walker recovers from a hamstring injury.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Ederson; Lewis, Dias, Akanji, Gvardiol; Rodri, Silva; Foden, De Bruyne, Grealish; Haaland

UNAVAILABLE: Ake (Injured), Walker (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Ederson (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

Despite the fact that Oliver Glasner most definitely has some problems to solve and overcome with Crystal Palace in the remainder of this campaign, they do appear fairly comfortably safe from relegation. With eight games of the season to go, they begin the weekend sitting eight points clear of the bottom three and the relegation places. They now face a Manchester City side that are very much still in the title race but three points adrift of league leaders Liverpool at the top-of-the-table. City have won just two of their last 20 matches in the league by more than two goals so they should win and win probably comfortably but it is unlikely to be a massively heavy victory.

TIP: MAN CITY TO WIN
