Zulte Waregem will have been glad to see the back of the 2019-20 season as they were in very poor form with just one win from their last ten league outings when the season ended prematurely after 29 rounds. They were never in danger of relegation, but that woeful run of results meant they were out of contention for a place in the top six. Genk also had a season to forget as the 2018-19 champions were a shadow of the team which won the title and they were also out of contention for a place in the top six when the league campaign was curtailed.
