Gameweek 23 was a long old slog to wait for a 0-0 between Burnley and Watford on Saturday – a full two weeks after the first fixture in January. How long is a gameweek before it becomes a Gamefortnight? A Gamemonth? Send your answers on a postcard, it’ll probably arrive before the next gameweek ends.

What a malaise. Five Burnley players made the ‘Kings of GW23’ list after back-to-back stalemates. Ironically, FPL top-scorer Mo Salah scored more points (0) than much-captained Emmanuel Dennis (-1) despite playing football on a different continent and in a different tournament. He remained the most captained player of the week though, suggesting a vast amount of dead teams are out there owned by ex-FPL managers with a sense of freedom we can but dream of.

Personally, I forgot to change my team for the first time this season and so avoided the hilarious red card for Watford’s Dennis that stung plenty of managers early on. Team TSZ captained Cristiano Ronaldo for a grand total of four points but it actually could have been worse, considering. Still, 34 points is one below a miserable average in what is proving to be a Premier League season to forget.

GAMEWEEK 24 TEAM

Formation: 3-4-3
Captain: Cancelo
Vice-captain: Bowen
Transfers made: 1 (Rudiger > Williams)
Point deductions: 0

I have just returned from a week off after covering the whole Australian Open in January left me with a typing-related nervous disposition and a kind of painful gas where my hands had once been. The debrief from Alex and Trystan was short and sweet enough: they have stopped caring. Isn’t this just the natural conclusion to any FPL season after Christmas? The two cannot take it any more and would like to stop. Unfortunately we must plough on. Swapping out Ben Foster to Daniel Bachmann and back again isn’t going to do itself! I checked back to see what Trystan had written in my absence. Nothing. Which begs the question, why am I?

There is some action to relay this week but it all happened so fast I barely had time to note it down. Antonio Rudiger must go seeing as Chelsea will play just once over the next four gameyears and to free up some funds the guys parachuted in Brandon Williams at £3.9m for what seems like the fifth time this season. There are a couple of enticing double gameweeks coming up that the pair are anticipating. I may well try and forget about my team again and see what happens.
