England vs Scotland prediction

England fell victims to the West Indies spin-duo of Gudakesh Motie and Roston Chase in their last group match as the ‘Men in Maroon’ defended a score of 196/6 by bowling Harry Brook’s side out for 166. It proved to be a bad toss to lose for England, who bowled first and backed themselves to chase whatever was set, but their bowlers lacked conviction and control, firing ten wides as the Windies lower order teed off.

This isn’t the first time that Scotland have taken on England in this tournament, having done so in 2024 and acquitted themselves very well before rain saw the game abandoned before enough overs were bowled to force a result. In this year competition, the Scots were beaten by West Indies to start things off before thrashing Italy by 73 runs with the big-striking George Munsey crucial up top with 84 runs. Many of their players know England’s squad well with a number of them having likely competed with and/or against multiple England stars domestically.

In a T20 World Cup, players finding form and turning that into consistent high scores are worth their weight in gold. Jacob Bethell has now racked up 88 runs across two innings batting at number three, following up his 55 against Nepal with 33 vs West Indies. Backing him to maintain his recent purple patch and accrue another 30+ runs looks a smart move.
