THE TEAM NEWS

SOUTHERN BRAVE WOMEN

• Southern Brave suffered their first defeat of the competition vs Manchester Originals after a rain affected game at Emirates Old Trafford, however they remain top of the table, one point above their opponents here.
• Captain Anya Shrubsole will have been disappointed to lose an important toss vs the Originals and their score of 123/7 batting first wasn’t enough, whilst the Brave bowlers could only manage one wicket in reply.
• Throughout the competition so far, Southern Brave have rotated between bowlers Charlotte Taylor and Tara Norris, so with Taylor playing vs the Originals it would be no surprise to see Norris given the nod in this match.

NORTHERN SUPERCHARGERS WOMEN

• Northern Superchargers’ defeat vs London Spirit at Lord’s last time out saw them miss the chance to go top of the table in what was a thrilling encounter.
• Once again, it was Indian overseas star Jemimah Rodrigues who led the charge for the Superchargers, blasting 57 runs opening the batting, however their score of 126/5 wasn’t enough with their bowlers only managing to take three wickets, which was crucial at the end as London Spirit’s set batter Deandra Dottin took them to victory.
• Kalea Moore made her first appearance of the tournament vs the Spirit and was entrusted with the final set of five balls, but went wicketless over the course of the match and it remains to be seen whether she has done enough to keep her place here.

THE PREDICTION

A top of the table clash which promises to be a thriller between two very strong teams. Southern Brave have won their one game played at Southampton so far and will be confident with home advantage in their favour and a team with arguably better depth than Northern Superchargers, who remain heavily reliant on Rodrigues with the bat. However, the forecast for this one is not great and rain may end up spoiling the contest. Should there be enough play to constitute a match, the toss will be a very important one. Ultimately though, the Brave with that added depth are to be narrowly favoured on their home ground.
