THE LOWDOWN

ZIMBABWE

• Zimbabwe can take plenty of heart from their performance in the opening T20i of this series, which saw them in a position at one stage where they could easily have gone on and won the game, although it eventually ended in defeat for them.
• Ryan Burl was a key figure with the ball, taking three wickets for just 14 runs, whilst Sikandar Raza batting at number six and scoring 45 suggests that the depth is there for Zimbabwe going forward to accelerate with the bat during the latter stage of their innings if required.

AFGHANISTAN

• Losing the toss and bowling first, Afghanistan were given a scare after conceding a competitive total of 159/8 and only reached their victory target of 160 with 4 deliveries to spare.
• The opening partnership of Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Hazratullah Zazai getting the tourists off to a good start was key in the chase and the two may well play a crucial role once again in this second T20i.

THE PREDICTION

Afghanistan may have made it 12 T20i victories from 13 against Zimbabwe in the first match of this series, but they did not have it all their own way and will need to ensure their performance levels do not drop if they are to avoid a surprise defeat this time round. This fixture taking place less than 24 hours following the first T20i could prove beneficial to the tourists, who boast the sort of squad equipped to handle the demands of such a short turnaround and although Zimbabwe are expected to put up another good fight, an Afghanistan win has to be favoured once again.
