• Since losing their first game against Pakistan, New Zealand have won every other match they have competed in across this tri-series and are clearly the form side heading into the final.
• Both all-rounder Daryl Mitchell and fast bowler Lockie Ferguson will miss this match with finger and abdominal injuries respectively.

PAKISTAN

• Pakistan sealed their spot in the final with a tense seven-wicket win over Bangladesh which saw them successfully chase down 174 with a ball to spare, their third victory of the tri-series.
• Both Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam gained runs in that win, but the real hero of the hour was Mohammad Nawaz, whose 45 not out from 20 balls after being promoted to number four has likely nailed down his status as Pakistan’s primary ‘finisher’ among their batters.

THE PREDICTION

The New Zealand bowlers will have to be at their best to blunt the batting potency of Rizwan and Babar, but they’ll still be confident of success when taking into account the unconvincing Pakistan mid-to-lower order. New Zealand meanwhile, contain the more reliable depth among their side and although the tourists can prove a mercurial opponent who are outstanding when at their best, the tried and tested all-round skill of New Zealand at home should see them go on to win this final and the tri-nation series as a whole.
