THE LOWDOWN

ROYAL CHALLENGERS BANGALORE

  • Royal Challengers Bangalore got back to winning ways at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium over the weekend, beating Delhi Capitals by 23 runs on Saturday, their second win of the tournament so far.
  • A Virat Kohli 50, combined with cameos across the top order helped RCB to an eventual winning total of 174/6, whilst Vijaykumar Vyshak led the way with the ball, taking three wickets for the loss of just 20 runs across his four overs.

CHENNAI SUPER KINGS

  • Chennai Super Kings were last in action all the way back on April 12th, when they lost a 3-run thriller against high-flying Rajasthan Royals in Chepauk despite the brave attempts by MS Dhoni to produce another rescue act down the order.
  • Like RCB, CSK’s overall record across the 2023 IPL so far stands at won two, lost two after four games, but a significantly superior net-run-rate sees them come into this one above their opponents in the table.

THE PREDICTION

A very close match appears to be on the cards between two long-standing giants of the IPL. Chennai Super Kings have shown their ability to win away from home previously, beating Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium. Royal Challengers Bangalore though, have won two of their three previous games played at home, their only loss coming by one-wicket in a contest they could have easily won against Lucknow Super Giants. If they can maintain their high all-round team standards shown at home across the IPL so far this season, then RCB should have enough to defeat CSK in this one.
