THE LOWDOWN

MUMBAI INDIANS

  • Mumbai Indians are coming off the back defeat in Chepauk against fierce rivals Chennai Super Kings, losing by six wickets in a match which saw them dominated throughout by the hosts.
  • Although they sit level on points with Royal Challengers Bangalore, Mumbai Indians are currently below RCB in the table due to net-run-rate, so a win is needed here to leapfrog them.

ROYAL CHALLENGERS BANGALORE

  • Royal Challengers Bangalore were shocked at how comfortable Delhi Capitals completed a run chase of 182 over the weekend, meaning they missed the chance to move into the top four.
  • Virat Kohli struck a half-century in that one, whilst Mahipal Lomror also impressed with an unbeaten 54 from 29 balls, but ultimately the bowlers could not back up their batters’ efforts.

THE PREDICTION

It would be no surprise if we saw plenty of runs between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore with both teams boasting hard-hitting top orders capable to putting opposition bowling attacks to the sword. But RCB have struggled to top 200 when batting, whilst Mumbai Indians have had no such issues, especially when you consider those two successful run chases of 215 and 213 respectively in two of their last three games. With that in mind, backing Mumbai Indians, with home advantage in their favour looks a shrewd move.
