Corentin Moutet vs Learner Tien Prediction

Fresh off beating 25th-seed Alexei Popyrin, Corentin Moutet showed that was no fluke as he went on to beat Mitchell Krueger in four sets in the second round.

Krueger actually won more receiving points than Moutet (57 to 52) and they won the same number of total points (142 each), but Moutet won the key moments and got the win.

He will now face talented 19-year-oild Learner Tien who will have to follow up on his stunning second-round win over Daniil Medvedev last time out. There will likely be an emotional comedown after that incredible win which saw him hold his nerve to win a final-set tiebreak.

That means that Tien has now won five matches to reach this stage and the youngster is loving the spotlight in Melbourne.

It will be interesting to see if he can lift himself once again now and against a lesser opponent than his previous one. Similar to Joao Fonseca after his win against Andrey Rublev, he could not follow that up against Sonego and it would be no surprise if this match was similar.

Tien is going to be a quality player but he will have to recover mentally to be ready to perform at a high level once again. We just edge him to win but we suggest approaching this one with caution. Consider over 3.5 sets and expect this to go deep once again.

Corentin Moutet vs Learner Tien Tip: Over 3.5 sets
