South Sydney Rabbitohs team news

The Rabbitohs' task is made monumental by the absence of their two biggest stars, Latrell Mitchell (quad) and Jack Wighton (suspension). Their unavailability forces a major backline reshuffle, with Jye Gray stepping in at fullback and Jamie Humphreys taking the reins at halfback. This will likely provide another opportunity for Lewis Dodd. The forward pack is also impacted, with Jai Arrow moving to prop to cover for an injury to Tevita Tatola.

Brisbane Broncos vs South Sydney Rabbitohs prediction

The Brisbane Broncos (6th) had their momentum checked in Round 21, suffering a shock 22-20 loss to the Parramatta Eels that snapped an impressive five-game winning streak. Despite the stumble, they remain firmly in the finals picture.

The South Sydney Rabbitohs (17th) are enduring a season to forget, anchored to the bottom of the table and riding a seven-game losing streak. Their last match was a gallant 14-12 defeat to the Cronulla Sharks, a performance that showed glimpses of fight but ultimately continued their winless run.

Broncos front row forward Payne Haas continues to prove he is one of the game's elite. He ranks in the NRL's top five for both Post Contact Metres (1,107m) and Offloads (44).

The Rabbitohs have conceded 136 points in four back-to-back losses at this venue.

The Rabbitohs have won three out of the last five clashes, including the last two. However their 22-14 Round 10 upset win is considered an outlier, as they were at full strength, unlike their current injury-ravaged squad.

All signs point to a commanding Broncos victory. They are playing at their Suncorp fortress, stinging from a loss, and welcoming back key players, while the Rabbitohs are in disarray and missing their most influential talent.
