The expectation was that conditions were be well-suited to Bangladesh’s strengths and that’s exactly what transpired in the first ODI, with the Tigers ultimately winning comfortably by 74 runs. The Windies could not cope with the spin-bowling of Rishad Hossain and it was his six-wicket haul that ended up sinking the tourists in their chase of 208.

On what is likely to be another tricky batting surface, Bangladesh has enough experience on these type of pitches in the sub-continent to bat through tough periods, play with control and make sure they at least get a score on the board if inserted by the opposition. West Indies are a more aggressive team but this is less likely to work in Mirpur and thus backing Bangladesh again feels like the sensible move.
