Australia failed to secure the sweep against India in the ODI series as the tourists won the last game by nine wickets, chasing down 237 to win due to an unbeaten 121 by Rohit Sharma and 74 not out from Virat Kohli, the pair putting on an unbroken 168-run partnership for the second wicket. But those two won’t play any part in these T20 internationals, having both retired from the format. India appears to be a team in transition when it comes to the shortest form of international white ball cricket.
Whilst India do boast substantial depth, Australia you could argue are a more ‘oven ready’ unit. Power certainly won’t be in short supply with the bat when it comes to the hosts. However, they are set to take India’s superstar pace bowler in Jasprit Bumrah. His presence is a huge boost to the tourists and his ability should see him play a big part in this first T20i if selected. Therefore, consider backing Bumrah to pick up a couple of wickets at least.
