Zizou Bergs advanced to his second tour-level final as he came from a set down to end the hopes of home favourite Toby Samuel. The Brit only entered the tournament as a lucky loser, but he led after the first set and forced a tiebreak in the second. However, Bergs would crucially keep his hopes alive as he won the breaker and raced clear in the decider to win 4-6 7-6 (5) 6-2.
He will now face Ugo Humbert after he beat former world number four Jack Draper in straight sets. Draper was making his return to action following his latest spell out with injury and hadn’t dropped a set across his three matches up to the semi-finals. However, he struggled to create opportunities against a resolute Humbert, with the Frenchman winning 7-5 6-3.
Humbert has enjoyed a productive grass court campaign up to this point, having also progressed to the semi-finals of Queen’s Club last week. The sixth seed is performing strongly and should have enough to beat Bergs.
