Jacob Fearnley will hope to continue Zizou Bergs’ miserable run when they do battle in Cincinnati.
The Brit has not found his best level since Roland Garros but can claim to be in better form than his Belgian opponent, who has lost six matches in a row since reaching the final in s’Hertogenbosch.
This will be their first meeting and with world number 52 Bergs just three places better off, it’ll come down to who is most consistent on the day.
Fearnley has a fondness for North American hard courts but Bergs did reach a tour-level final on the surface in Auckland earlier this year and will be a threat if he finds some confidence.
It could be another one for in-match betting and taking in a set to see how each player is faring, but with dips and swings in momentum likely, a punt on it going three is also worth considering.
