Zheng Qinwen vs Mirra Andreeva prediction

Zheng Qinwen reached the final of the China Open for the first time in her career after beating Elise Mertens in straight sets. The 2024 Olympic champion made a fast start and opened up a 3-0 lead in the first set, but Mertens broke back to level. Nevertheless, the 24-year-old broke in the 12th game to go in front. She would go on to seal a 7-5 6-2 victory. This is Zheng’s second WTA 1000 final, after Wuhan in 2024. 

She will face Mirra Andreeva. The Russian advanced to her fifth final of the campaign after a comfortable victory over Nikola Bartunkova in the last four. Bartunkova had beaten Aryna Sabalenka and Karolina Muchova on her way to the semi-finals, but she ran out of steam in this match as the Roland Garros finalist won 6-2 6-2.

Andreeva is the favourite, but Zheng has been in fabulous form ever since the start of the US Open, having won 13 of her last 15 matches. She will also receive incredible support as the home favourite.
