Zheng Qinwen vs Elina Svitolina prediction

Zheng Qinwen continued her fine run on home soil with a three set win over Alina Charaeva to advance to the quarter-finals of the China Open. The 2024 Olympic champion regrouped strongly in the deciding set to win 6-1 2-6 6-4 after two hours and 11 minutes. This is the second time the 24-year-old has progressed to this stage of the tournament from four attempts. 

She will now face Elina Svitolina for a place in the last four. Svitolina advanced after a straight sets victory over Ann Li. The world number seven had to save 10 out of 12 break point opportunities, winning 6-2 6-3 after one hour and 31 minutes.

This will be a first career meeting between the pair. Svitolina starts as the favourite, but Zheng has shown tremendous resolve to come through four consecutive three set matches and will once again be spurred on by the home crowd.
