Zeynep Sonmez vs Iryna Shymanovich prediction

Zeynep Sonmez was beaten in the first-round of the US Open, following a loss in straight sets to Coco Gauff. She also suffered second-round losses in Toronto and Cincinnati to Maria Sakkari and Amanda Anisimova respectively. Sonmez did enter the top 50 of the world rankings for the first time this season and reached the third-round of the Australian Open right at the start of the year. The Turk is making her second appearance at the event, following a defeat to Tatjana Maria in the opening round last year.

Her first-round opponent in Guadalajara is Iryna Shymanovch. The Belarusian qualified for the tournament, as her opponent Lea Ma retired with Shymanovich leading by a set and a break. Shymanovich had also won a match in US Open qualifying, beating Rebeka Masarova before a loss to Julieta Pareja.

Sonmez is the higher-ranked player, and she will be expected to come out on top here.
