Zachary Svajda defeated Liam Draxl and Wu Yibing without dropping a set at the Dallas Open and then began his Delray Beach Open campaign with a straight sets win against Aleksandar Kovacevic. 23-year-old Svajda, with no career titles, is ranked 110th in the world but has an opening in Florida.
Frances Tiafoe eased to a relatively straightforward 6-4, 6-4 victory over Australian qualifier Rinki Hijikata the other day. Tiafoe remains some way off his best from a couple of years ago, though, and could do with a deep run into this tournament after second round exits in Dallas and Brisbane so far this year.
Tiafoe does remain one of the biggest names in American tennis and he remains a big test for a qualifier such as Svajda but Svajda may well fancy his chances of at least worrying Tiafoe in this second round tie.
