Yunchaokete Bu pulled off an upset in the second-round as he defeated top seed and former world number three Stefanos Tsitsipas in straight sets. A rampant Bu broke the Greek’s serve on five occasions and created 14 break points overall as he registered a career best 10th tour-level win of the season. Tsitsipas was out-of-sorts once again with 33 unforced errors, but Bu will be full of confidence ahead of his next match.
He now faces Mariano Navone who impressed last time out as he beat Marcos Giron 6-2 6-2. This is the first time the Argentine has won consecutive hard court matches in the main draw of a tournament this year. He was the far superior player in this one, winning six games in a row at one point as Giron’s poor form continued.
Bu will be raring to go after such a fantastic display in the previous round against a former Grand Slam finalist and should be able to create enough opportunities to defeat Navone and reach a second ATP quarter-final this season.
