Yunchaokete Bu reached his second ATP quarter-final of the season after getting past Mariano Navone in straight sets. Both players exchanged breaks early on, but Bu was the superior player after that, winning 6-4 6-4 after an hour and 40 minutes.

His opponent in the quarters will be Botic van de Zandschulp. The Dutchman recovered from a horror start to defeat former champion Sebastian Baez in the round-of-16. Van de Zandschulp did not win a game in the first set as a rampant Baez dominated the early part of the match, but he recovered well to send the match into a third set. He broke in sixth game of the set only to be broken by the Argentine in the very next service game. Crucially, he sealed victory by breaking once again when Baez was serving to stay in the match to win 0-6 6-1 6-4.

This is very close to call, with both enjoying a strong week so far in Winston-Salem. We think there’s a strong chance this heads to a deciding set.
