Yuliia Starodubtseva vs Ann Li prediction

Yuliia Starodubtseva crashed out of the Cincinnati Open early on after a three set defeat to Leolia Jeanjean in round one. That would have been a disappointment for the Ukrainian after a more positive showing in Montreal, which included a win against Magdalena Frech and a third-round appearance. That was her best display on a hard court this season, but her best tournament overall was in Madrid, as she made the round-of-16 in April.

Ann Li is not in great form as we approach the end of the North American swing. She did reach the quarter-finals in Prague last month but hasn’t won a match since and is currently on a three match losing run. She lost to Anna Kalinskaya in Montreal and followed that up with another early loss against Viktoriya Tomova.

This is their first match at WTA Tour level, but they have played on two occasions at lower level events. The head-to-head is tied at 1-1 but this will be their first encounter on a hard court. Starodubtseva is ranked at 63 in the world, with Li just one place below. They’re very evenly matched and this could easily be decided by a third set.
