Yulia Putintseva vs Viktorija Golubic prediction

Viktorija Golubic’s title defence will face its sternest test yet against Yulia Putintseva.

The Swiss star fought hard to come up clutch right at the wire and fend off Elena Pridankina 6-0 4-6 7-5.

The second seed now takes on Putintseva for a fourth time after the Kazakhstani fifth seed crushed Wushuang Zheng 6-2 6-0.

Golubic leads the head-to-head 2-1 but it is 1-1 on a hardcourt with Putintseva triumphing 7-6 7-6 in Hua Hin last year.

The Kazakhstani has been almost flawless so far at this tournament and the pressure will be on the defending champion to find another gear after being pushed so hard in the previous round.

That said, Golubic will certainly give Putintseva more to think about and it wouldn’t be surprising if this went to a decider given the close nature of form, ranking and previous encounters.
