Emma Navarro brushed aside a shock loss in Auckland to avoid a banana skin in Adelaide and snare her maiden win of 2026.
The American side-stepped the prospect of back-to-back upsets with a dominant 6-3 6-3 victory over 17-year-old wildcard Emerson Jones.
The sixth seed will now tussle with Yulia Putintseva after the qualifier remained flawless at the tournament with a 6-4 6-4 triumph over Dalma Galfi.
This will be a second encounter between the pair and if the first clash is anything to go by it may well be a tight affair.
Navarro came out on top at the Billie Jean King Cup back in September by a 7-5 2-6 7-6 scoreline.
Emma will be the favourite again here but given how well Putintseva has played so far this week, it may well be another one that goes to the wire.
