Yulia Putintseva vs Clara Tauson prediction
Yulia Putintseva advanced to round two of Indian Wells as she defeated former world number two and 2021 champion Paula Badosa in straight sets. The Spaniard made a host of unforced errors throughout as Putintseva won 6-4 6-2 after one hour and 23 minutes. She reached the round-of-16 at the Australian Open earlier this season.
She faces Clara Tauson next. The Dane last competed in Dubai, making the quarter-finals before a loss to eventual winner Jessica Pegula. Her best result was in Abu Dhabi, as she reached the last four, losing to Sara Bejlek in three sets. Tauson lost in the third-round of this event last year to Mirra Andreeva, with the Russian going on to win the event.
Tauson will be expected to win, but she does not have the best record at this tournament, and Putintseva could test her at times in this second-round match, especially when the rallies are extended.
