Yu Jun Lin vs Storm Hunter prediction

Yu Jun Lin will be making her tour-level debut as she received a wildcard to compete at the China Open. The Chinese player has manly performed in junior competition, winning a title in Nonthaburi and reaching finals in Santa Croce, Roehampton and most recently, Beijing. She is ranked well outside the top 1000, but has the opportunity to win her first ever match on the WTA Tour.

Her opponent is Storm Hunter. The Australian has continued her recovery this year following the serious Achilles injury in 2024 that interrupted her career. She has climbed back up to 182 in the world. Hunter qualified for this tournament, coming from a set down to beat Ruien Zhang and then easily getting past Ksenia Zaytseva. 

The gulf in senior experience is vast. Lin’s junior results suggest considerable potential, but Hunter has already demonstrated this season that she can compete against established opposition. She will be expected to come through with the victory against the youngster.
