Yibing Wu vs Novak Djokovic prediction

Yibing Wu attempted to qualify for the Eastbourne Open last week but lost in the first stage to Jan Choinski in straight sets. He also struggled in Nottingham on the Challenger Tour, only advancing to the round-of-16. This is just his second appearance at Wimbledon, following a first-round loss in 2023 to Frances Tiafoe.

He will face seven-time Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic in the first-round. Djokovic has the opportunity to equal Roger Federer’s record of eight men’s singles titles at SW19 when he begins his latest campaign. His run ended in the semi-finals last year with defeat to Jannik Sinner, the first time he had failed to reach a Wimbledon final since 2017. The 24-time Grand Slam champion suffered a third-round exit at Roland Garros after a five set epic against Joao Fonseca. This was the first time Djokovic had lost a match after going two sets up since his 2010 quarter-final loss in Paris to Jurgen Melzer.

Djokovic has still shown flashes of his genius this season, and the shorter rallies should benefit his game massively across the upcoming fortnight. It is likely to be a straight-forward victory for the Serb in round one.
