Yibing Wu vs Daniil Medvedev prediction
Yibing Wu came from a set down to win for the second match running as he defeated Sebastian Korda in the round-of-16 to delight the home crowd. He lost the first set but was not broken on his own serve in set two or three, winning 4-6 6-1 6-4. It was an aggressive performance from the Chinese player, with 45 winners in total.
He will face former US Open champion Daniil Medvedev in the next round. Medvedev was much improved for the most part as he defeated Nishesh Basavareddy in straight sets. The Russian did encounter some difficulty when serving for the match at 5-0, but still managed to do so at the second attempt to seal a 6-2 6-3 win after just an hour and 15 minutes.
Wu will receive fabulous support as he seeks to continue his run at his home event, but Medvedev will be aware of the unbelievable opportunity he has to win his first title since May 2023 in Hangzhou, especially with top seed Andrey Rublev’s surprising loss in the previous round. Medvedev should be coming out on top.
