Yibing Wu vs Dalibor Svrcina prediction
Yibing Wu enjoyed a brilliant run at this home event in Hangzhou. He came from a set down to win all three of his matches, beating Adrian Mannarino, Sebastian Korda and former world number one Daniil Medvedev to get through to the semi-finals. He would lose to eventual champion Alexander Bublik but Wu will hope he can carry some of that momentum with him in Shanghai. His campaign has been shortened by injury, but he seems to have found some form on the ATP Tour for the first time this season.
Dalibor Svrcina also impressed at Hangzhou, as he defeated 2021 Wimbledon semi-finalist Matteo Berrettini as a lucky loser on his way to making the quarters, where he also lost to Bublik. He could only make the second-round of the Jingshan Challenger at his next event but he did qualify for this tournament with two straight set victories.
Wu’s aggression and ball striking is likely to be key here, and if he can get on top of Svrcina early on, he may just have enough to win at another home tournament in round one.
