Yannick Hanfmann began the Chile Open with an impressive straight sets victory against Dusan Lajovic in which he dropped just three games before a 6-4, 6-3 win against the tournament number four seed Camilo Ugo Carabelli in the second round.
Vilius Gaubas managed to get into the tournament as a result of the withdrawal of the in-form Tomas Martin Etcheverry so, despite losing to Alex Barrena in qualification, he has started the tournament very well with a 6-2, 6-3 victory against Matias Soto in the first round before a three-set victory over Croatian qualifier Dino Prizmic.
Vilius Gaubas has done very well to reach the last eight of the Chile Open but Yannick Hanfmann is expected to put an end to that given the form of the German.
