Xinyu Wang vs Francesca Jones prediction

Fran Jones hit the comeback trail to surge into the quarter-finals in Auckland. 

The Brit moved up a gear following a medical time-out at 1-6 0-3 to triumph 1-6 6-4 6-1 over Sinja Kraus.

Jones will now tackle China’s Wang Xinyu for the first time at this level after the seventh seed beat Renata Zarazua 7-5 6-4.

Wang will be a clear favourite here but Jones will have belief given she picked up a career-best victory over second seed Emma Navarro earlier in the week. The British number three will be ready to scrap although there may be a slight concern over her fitness after the MTO.

Wang has looked more consistently solid here and should prevail, but don’t be shocked if Fran ends up playing her third three-setter in a row in Auckland.
