Xinyu Gao vs Panna Udvardy prediction

Xinyu Gao enters her home WTA 1000 event as a wildcard, with the 28-year-old ranked outside the world’s top 230. Her season has been largely spent below main-tour level, although she successfully qualified for the WTA 250 event at the Prague Open in July. She beat Susan Bandecchi and Linda Fruhvirtova, before losing in straight sets to eventual champion Lilli Tagger. 

Panna Udvardy is ranked 79 in the world. The Hungarian’s standout achievement was reaching her maiden WTA Tour final in Bogota, while she also reached the Iasi Open quarter-finals in July, recovering from 6-1 3-0 down to defeat Katarzyna Kawa before a loss to former world number two Paula Badosa. Her best results have occurred on clay in 2026.

Her last tournament was in Guadalajara, which began with a win over Lois Boisson before a defeat to Cristina Bucsa, and she currently holds a win-loss record of 4-9 on hard courts. Udvardy has the considerably stronger experience at WTA level, but the surface narrows the gap.
