Xinran Sun vs Cristina Bucsa prediction

Xinran Sun picked up her first ever tour-level victory after a straight sets win over Eva Lys in the first-round of the China Open. The 16-year-old was broken in her very first service game but then reeled off nine games in a row, as she led 6-1 3-0 before Lys was forced to retire. She won the US Open girls’ junior title earlier this month.

Sun now faces Cristina Bucsa. The Spaniard received a bye in the first-round. Bucsa’s form has picked up lately, following a third-round appearance at the US Open and a run to the last four in Guadalajara, where she was stopped by defending champion Iva Jovic. She was unable to win either of her singles matches at the Billie Jean King Cup last week, losing to Yulia Putintseva and Linda Noskova respectively. Bucsa’s highlight of the season was her first tour-level title at the Merida Open.

Sun showed just how much potential she has in the first-round, but Bucsa will be a tougher test in terms of high-level opposition.
