Wang Xinyu vs Sara Bejlek prediction
Wang Xinyu squeezed past Lucie Havlickova in a dramatic three set match to get through to the quarters in Prague. The Chinese player served for the match at 5-3 in the decider but was broken by Havlickova. She then saved a match point in the tiebreak, eventually coming through 3-6 7-5 7-6.
She will now face another Czech in Sara Bejlek in the last eight. Bejlek produced a strong display to beat Alycia Parks in straight sets. The 18-year-old failed to serve out the first set, instead taking it in a mammoth tiebreak, which saw her save two set points and win it 11-9. The second set was more straight-forward and Bejlek won 7-6 6-3. She’s now into her first tour-level quarter-final.
Wang was perilously close to an early exit against Havlickova and she’s likely to have it even tougher against Bejlek, who will be full of confidence after defeating Parks and getting through to the last eight in her home tournament. This may go to a deciding set.
