Wakefield Trinity vs Leigh Leopards prediction
This time last year, Leigh Leopards ended Wakefield Trinity’s season with a comprehensive 26-10 win in their eliminator showdown at Leigh Sports Village. This year, the script has been flipped with Wakefield boasting home advantage following an excellent regular season which saw them finish in fourth-place, four points above Adrian Lam’s men.
Daryl Powell’s side landed an early punch against the Leythers in the final round of regular season matches, beating Leigh 8-19 on the road. Now they return home looking to complete a double, this time with everything on the line. Wakefield had a little wobble several weeks ago, but they have definitely got back to something close to their best just in time for the play-offs. Home advantage will be significant just as the result last week against Leigh was important. Now they have to back it up.
There may be additional pressure, and they are certainly not used to being in the play-offs, having achieved their highest-ever Super League finishing position. However, the atmosphere will be superb and assuming that the pressure does not get to them, they have the physicality and the creativity to edge this against the Leopards.
Consider the home side straight up rather than the spread but expect a close match regardless. This may well be one better served to look at in-play especially if Leigh score first, the odds on the home side may become more appealing.
