Vitaliy Sachko avenged his qualifying loss to Clement Tabur in the quarter-finals to continue his best ever run at an ATP event. He outlasted the Frenchman to win in three sets. There were just three breaks of serve in the whole match, with Sachko breaking at the end of the decider to win 6-4 3-6 6-4.
He now takes on Learner Tien. Tien came from a set down to beat Matteo Berrettini. The American was broken near the end of the first set but was in control after that, winning 5-7 6-3 6-2 after one hour and 44 minutes. He is now just one match away from his second ATP final, after reaching his first in Beijing six weeks ago.
Tien has already shown his quality this week and he is likely to create plenty of opportunities on the Sachko serve with his rally tolerance and fine defensive game. This is a match he is going to be expected to come through and win in straight sets.
