Vitaliy Sachko picked up his first ever tour-level win in the first-round as he defeated Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in straight sets. A lengthy first set went deep into a tiebreak, with Sachko saving two set points and going in front after converting a fourth of his own. He created more opportunities on the Frenchman’s serve in the second set and comfortably completed a 7-6 (11) 6-3 win.

He now faces Alexander Bublik. The Kazakhstani continued the best season of his career last week as he got through to the semi-finals of the Paris Masters, the furthest he has ever advanced at a Masters event. He is now up to his best ranking of 13 in the world and will be looking to add a fifth ATP title of the season.

Bublik’s serve is such a weapon in these conditions, and he also showed off other aspects of his game in Paris, which propelled him to victories over the likes of Taylor Fritz and Alex de Minaur. This is likely to be a comfortable match for this year’s French Open quarter-finalist.
