Vit Kopriva continued his progress in Rio as he comfortably beat Roman Andres Burruchaga in straight sets to advance. Kopriva wasn’t broken on serve as he saved all six break points on offer, winning 6-3 6-1 after an hour and 28 minutes.
He now takes on Juan Manuel Cerundolo. The Argentine won his round-of-16 match against Yannick Hanfmann. He looked to be edging towards a win as he took the first set and broke to go 3-1 up. However, Hanfmann hit back and forced a decider after winning the second on a tiebreak. Cerundolo broke in the 10th game of the third set and served it out to win 6-4 6-7 (1) 6-4.
Cerundolo also defeated second seed Luciano Darderi in the first-round of the tournament. However, he trails Kopriva 2-0 in the head-to-head and the Czech will be difficult to stop if he continues to perform at a high level in this match.
