Viktoriya Tomova vs Alexandra Eala prediction

Viktoriya Tomova started her clay court season with a surprising straight sets loss to Robin Montgomery at the Charleston Open. It was a poor performance from the Bulgarian, who has had over two weeks rest before her next event here. She will be hoping to better her run from last year as she got knocked out in the first-round by Wang Xinyu.

She will face Alexandra Eala who is playing in just her second event since her stunning breakthrough at the Miami Open. The 19-year-old beat the likes of Madison Keys and Iga Swiatek before losing to Jessica Pegula in the semi-finals. Her first foray into clay this season was a WTA 125k event in Oeiras but she lost in the second-round despite being the top seed.

This is a difficult one to call as Tomova is not in form, but Eala is an unknown quantity on clay. We’re just edging towards Tomova to make it through as she has the greater experience of the two.
