Viktorija Golubic vs Iga Swiatek prediction

Viktorija Golubic advanced to the third-round of a WTA 1000 tournament for the second time this season as she came from a set down to beat Donna Vekic. Golubic, who defeated Kimberly Birrell in her first-round match, failed to serve out the first set as Vekic reeled off three games in a row from 5-4 down to take the lead. The Swiss regrouped brilliantly to win 5-7 6-2 6-3.

She will now face former world number one Iga Swiatek for a place in the round-of-16. Swiatek began her campaign in Toronto with a comfortable win over Sara Bejlek. This was the six-time Grand Slam champion’s first match since her Wimbledon defence ended at the third-round stage last month, and she won the first nine games of this encounter as she raced to a 6-0 6-3 victory. 

Swiatek leads the head-to-head 2-1 and 2-0 on outdoor hard court. They last faced each other at the Miami Open in 2022, with the Pole easily wining 6-2 6-0. She will hope for a similarly dominant win this time around.
