Victoria Mboko vs Clara Tauson prediction

Victoria Mboko equalled her best run at a Grand Slam as she defeated Caty McNally in straight sets to make the third-round. The 19-year-old edged ahead in the first set after breaking towards the end. She then went 3-0 down at the start of the second as her level dropped on serve, only to then win the next six games in a row to seal victory. Mboko won 6-4 6-3.

She faces Clara Tauson next. It wasn’t the best of performances from Tauson in round two, but she still got past world number 150 Polina Kudermetova in three sets. She was broken on six occasions in total and initially failed to serve out the match at 5-4, though was able to do so at the second attempt to win 6-3 3-6 7-5 after one hour and 53 minutes.

Mboko has looked the stronger of the two players so far this season and will be motivated to reach the round-of-16 at a Grand Slam for the first time in her young career.
