Victoria Azarenka vs Laura Siegemund prediction
Victoria Azarenka is competing in her first event on grass this season. She last played at the French Open, where she lost to Sofia Kenin in the second-round. She did come from a set down to win both of her qualifying matches for this event, getting past Veronika Kudermetova in the last stage.
Laura Siegemund suffered an early singles loss in the Nottingham Open last week to Rebecca Sramkova but did fare a lot better in the doubles as she won the event with partner Beatriz Haddad Maia. The German will hope for a victory over the two-time Grand Slam champion but trails Azarenka 2-1 in the head-to-head.
The Belarussian was defeated by Siegemund in the first-round of the Australian Open but won the two most recent matches in Doha and Miami. This will be their first match against each on grass and there’s little to separate these two veterans, but Azarenka, who reached the final of this event 15 years ago, should still be considered a slight favourite.
