Veronika Kudermetova vs Magda Linette prediction

Veronika Kudermetova picked up a brilliant win in the third-round as she came from a set down to beat 16th seed Clara Tauson. Tauson raced to a 3-0 lead in the second set tiebreak and was just four points away from wrapping up a straight sets win, but Kudermetova came roaring back to win 3-6 7-6 6-4.

She will now go up against Magda Linette. Linette added to fourth seed Jessica Pegula’s woes as she defeated the American in three sets. The 33-year-old consistently created chances on Pegula’s serve as she earned 13 break point opportunities in total. She defeated last year’s finalist 7-6 3-6 6-3 after two hours and 19 minutes.

Linette leads the head-to-head 1-0 after coming from a set down to beat Kudermetova in the first-round of the Qatar Open earlier this year. Both players are riding high after impressive wins and could cancel each other out for large parts of the contest. There are just four places separating these two in the world rankings and it may have to be decided by a third set.
