Veronika Kudermetova vs Ekaterina Alexandrova prediction
Veronika Kudermetova has been largely unchallenged in this tournament so far and followed up her comfortable win over sister Polina in the first-round with a similarly straight-forward victory in round two. She ended Greet Minnen’s six-match winning streak on the surface with a 6-4 6-1 win. Kudermetova dominated the match, not losing serve and giving up just one break point.
She will have it tougher in the quarters though as she takes on two-time winner Ekaterina Alexandrova. The number two seed defeated Anna Blinkova 6-0 7-5 to advance. She made an incredibly quick start to the match but had a tougher time of things in the second set, though still managed to grab the decisive break towards the end.
Alexandrova leads the head-to-head 4-3 and 2-0 on grass. Both of their matches on the surface took place at this event, with Alexandrova easily winning the semi-final in 2022 and then coming from a set down to beat Kudermetova in the final a year later.
Kudermetova has been very solid this week but Alexandrova’s recent record at the event, along with the superior head-to-head on grass, gives her the edge.
