Veronika Kudermetova faces a familiar foe when she meets Ekaterina Alexandrova in an all-Russian third round clash at the French Open.

The world number 46 caught the eye when she outclassed former champion Barbora Krejcikova 6-0 6-3 last time out and she has yet to drop a set.

The 20th seed Alexandrova has also made a strong impression, losing just nine games across two matches heading into her seventh career showdown with Kudermetova.

The match-up is finely poised at 3-3 with Kudermetova winning their most recent encounter 3-6 6-4 6-3. She also triumphed in their only clash on clay so far, although that was way back in 2019.

Alexandrova did reach the last four in Stuttgart and Charleston earlier in her clay swing, so this could go either way with the prospect of it going three looking like a viable option.
