Valentin Vacherot has not been able to hit the same heights as he managed towards the end of last season, which included his stunning triumph at the Shanghai Masters, but he has still picked up victories in the first few weeks of the 2026 season. Vacherot reached the third-round of the Australian Open, and this was preceded by a run to the quarter-finals of the Adelaide International. This included wins over Nuno Borges and Brandon Nakashima, and he was very close to making the last four as he lost to Flavio Cobolli in three sets.
Vacherot is still the favourite for this one, but Wong will take confidence from his showing in Delray Beach and knows he can make this a very competitive first-round encounter.
