Valentin Vacherot will be eager for a deep run in Japan ahead of a host of points to defend as title holder in Shanghai.

The Monegasque 27-year-old is back inside the top 20 but has only won two of his last eight matches on tour (excluding Davis Cup). 

That will not have been missed by Alexander Blockx, who has really made a splash in 2026 and only saw his US Open run ended by injury in the quarter final.

The young Belgian is very much on the rise but much will depend on his fitness as he features for the first time since the last Slam of the year.
